I have been compensated to share this very valuable information about Bedsider, however all opinions are 100% my own. So you know where you are, ClassyBlackGirl.com and yes we do talk about all of the juicy and fun stuff that goes along with The Good Life of being a woman of Color-including riding that big Black bull...or whatever color that you choose to ride. I hope for you that it is a big one. Anyhow, the conversation that should come up before you ride is: Are we going to saddle up and protect ourselves?
The answer better be yes!
FACT: 73% of Black women ages 18-29 have unplanned pregnancies. Now that is just way too many children running around that were accidents.
Birth Control Beyond the Condom
Most of the time people think about protecting themselves as condom use only. I am a huge proponent of condoms with STI and HIV rates for Black women being as high as they are. Yet and still the conversation about birth control does not always come up the way that it needs to such as,
"What do we do if the condom breaks?"
Girl, they break. Especially if you have a Brahma Bull on your hands and even if you know that the condom has ended up in itty bitty pieces-a lot of times you are simply not going to stop...well uh-you know. So what then? Well your Classy, Black Girl is here to the rescue!
What is Bedsider.org?
I recommend that since you are not having sex at this very moment that you visit Bedsider.org right now. Bedsider is a comprehensive site all about birth control and how to get some FAST so that you don't end up having a 73% baby. Children are awesome-when you want them.
You are going to get some really good options (and some that I didn't know about) regarding birth control, beyond the condom. You will also get some good tips on bringing it up with your partner. We all want to be having sex, but nobody is equally as eager to talk about it...or what happens because of it.
Being super straightforward, while women may date single fathers, not that many men are honorable enough to take on the responsibility of a "ready-made family."
Have Trouble with Birth Control?
I remember being on birth control pills and I would sometimes forget if I had taken mine and the sugar pill days always confused me. It's a wonder that I did not end up pregnant because me and my boyfriend-both had the same raw dog mentality. Bedsider has this awesome text feature that will actually send you a reminder text...and the text is more than a reminder, you get tips too(sometimes sex tips)!
I know how much I love the comfort of my lifestyle and because I am not married I KNOW that I am not ready to have a baby. Are you?
Are you acting like it tho?
Pssstttt.....and for my gentlemen secretly reading this there is a whole freaking section for men called what else... "Guys Guide to Birth Control."
Rock a condom, but remember that you need protection BEYOND THE CONDOM!
