There are also some BAD foods that can age you and make you look OLD like the Wicked Witch of the West.
Here are the Top Foods to Avoid:
1. Coffee & Caffeine
I know, I know. Who can live on less coffee right? But caffeine naturally dehydrates you and while it gives you that extra energy, skin that is lacking moisture and water ages you and if you get enough rest...you will need less coffee so be about that beauty sleep and you will not need coffee.
2. All the White Stuff that we Love!
All of the White Pasta's, Breads, Cookies and Cakes are positively horrible for your skin. If you MUST do the carbohydrates, do the Whole Grain type and keep even those to a minimum if you want to keep awesome, youthful skin.
3. All Fried Foods
While nothing beats a bucket of fried wings from the local whole in the wall Fried Foods on a regular basis will make you sick and tired and you will end up looking that way as well. There is something about the process of frying foods that just commits murder on our insides and gives the body oil buildup that also manifests itself on our skin. It causes horrible acne and just isn't worth that delicious crunch. Skip fried foods and figure out a way to sauté your food or order it baked. Making this a habit will make your skin ROCK!
I am not a BIG sugar eater, but sometimes I get a little bit of a sweet tooth and I will grab a candy bar to cop a good fix. When I look at my skin after a sugar fest (especially around my cycle) I can see that my skin doesn't look great. Sugar makes your skin look pale, dry and it kills the natural collagen and elastin that keeps you from aging. Sugar also makes your immune system weakened and you have a difficult time disposing of the BAD TOXINS...which means you are retaining way too many toxins.
5. Alcohol (and YES wine too) *facepalm*
If you are trying to stay young you need to curb your alcohol enthusiasm. Alcohol dehydrates you, leaves you susceptible to wrinkles and kills your skin. Now I am not going to say stop drinking, but do it less often. Your skin (especially when you drink) gets just way too dry! You know when you wake up with that headache...that is dehydration. Your skin is suffering too. You ever get horrible redness ( I am a Black Girl for sure and I get the occasional ruddy complexion), that can sometimes be caused from alcohol use. Drink sporadically.
Yes...after Sugar there will be her evil (and tasty) cousin Salt and Sodium. Salt puffs you up like crazy, helps you to retain water weight and is just generally NOT good for you. Salt comes from what we sprinkle on our food and what is already processed within our food, so watch you labels so be careful so that you don't blow up like the godfather!
Note: Detoxing from Salt and increasing your water intake will probably drop you at least a dress size of nothing but water weight.
7. Artificial Sweeteners
I have never been a fan of artificial sweeteners. I actually do not use them, but I know a LOT of people who do. Some people actually use Artificial Sweeteners as a way of life. These products can cause inflammation within the body and cause aging swiftly. We do not know what the outcome of these sweeteners is going to be they were created in a laboratory. Even Natural Sugar is better than Artificial Sweeteners!
