I am all about the Juke Joint tho...
I am a Cali girl so when I was greeted by a gentleman outside who straight up said hello just because it was the Southern and right thing to do and a there was a sign at the front desk when I walked in that kindly requested (demanded) that the men remove their hats I knew that I was in for a different eating experience!
The Ambiance and Jazz
It was Sunday in the Juke Joint and there was a band playing all kind of good, chill music! I immediately loved the lofty and cozy feeling of this BIG place! I was seated in no time. The service was stellar-quick, efficient and friendly! My server Britney made me feel like I was coming over for a family meal.
When the band was finished playing old videos with good music from Stevie Wonder, The Supremes and old Motown greats. The only thing that was missing was my Mama to enjoy it with me!
Then Came Moonshine
After my delish water (had a lemon wedge without me asking) came the Moonshine. LAWD. It's good and came in a jar. I wanted to ask for a gallon of this stuff! It actually reminded me of Omega Oil(back from my college days). I had to take it slow...ONE of these during any meal is enough.
The Best Plate of Chicken I ever had...
I judge all food on my Mama's cooking. Please don't tell my Mama that Juke Joint has the best damn Fried Chicken that I have ever had. When I bit into that chicken for the first time, I liked to died and moved to Atlanta. While I was torn between the Shrimp and Grits or the Chicken and Waffles I went with my old favorite.
The waffles were basically waffles, bit the syrup was killer and I just kept going back to the Chicken. I could only actually eat 3 of those big old wings! And not even half of the waffle! But the wings made my mouth water. Like Drake said, "the best I ever had."
I am a stickler for good service, and I never needed to wonder where somebody was....bloop, they were there. Asking me if I needed more of anything. The plates were so well put together that I didn't need to ask for anything else extra.
This is a new go-to place for me when I come to the ATL. I would love to bring my friends and family out with me as well!
I would give this place 5 out of 5 C's!!...Just wish that they had one of these out in CALI! Real talk...they don't make food like this out West-except for in my Mama's kitchen.
