Its #BrunchAlert at Grand Lake Kitchen in Oakland!
So I am claiming my life back and all of the fun that being FREE means. I have been working on Saturdays and Sundays and just having NOT a stitch of fun on any day of the week let alone Saturdays. So when my lovely and lively Soror Nickie was like, “Let's walk the Lake!” I was super excited. Weekend Free Time..... "Hey Now!"
As a fellow member of the #HillaryBanksClub I knew that we were in for good times. We located hard to find parking and started to stroll around Lake Merritt. As we were walking I decided that I wanted to grab a bite to eat...and drink.
So we walked over to Grand Lake Kitchen. It was 11 am and positively buzzing! I wanted to eat outside but there was NO seating and the restaurant was packed. So we hit the Bar...of course.
Immediately we scored drinks. Patrick, our super cute bartender recommended these amazing slushies and after two in we were totally on one! There is a grapefruit flavored one, it was cool. Then there was another slushie….OMG… The Green Machine. I wanted to bottle this stuff up and take it home!
The food was delish and completely high quality. While there are many amazing eateries in Oakland (and especially around The Lake) Grand Lake Kitchen is a WIN honey!
Nickie had the Pork Belly and Arugala! Her food looked amazing!! I had welldone bacon and sugar coated donuts! Beyond Yum!
Where can you score a refreshing AM drink, not feel guilty and have amazing service while chowing on FRESH HOMEMADE donuts?
I also really liked that there are photos of local heros on the wall who look like me...like Angela Davis, MC Hammer and Too Short...it is cool that Oakland's history has still been embraced even as Oakland has changed a LOT.
Grand Lake Kitchen….that’s where!
